Facebook has been adding a flurry of new features recently (many obviously in response to the challenge of Google+). Most of them have been so big that some smaller but important additions may have slipped by unnoticed.
One that Page admins will appreciate is a new “View all shares” link attached to posts on your Page’s wall. Clicking on this link brings a popover that shows an avatar picture and name for every person who has shared the post on their own wall.
Aside from the immediate-gratification ego boost of seeing a nice number of shares for your posts, as a page admin you should use this feature strategically. Over a period of time, keep a list of who shares your posts, and find out who your most-frequent sharers are. These are the advocates for your brand, and it is extremely valuable to know who they are.
Find creative ways to reach out to your top advocates. Perhaps offer them first peek at new content. If clicking through to their wall or site shows that they have interesting things to say, invite them to do a guest post. Offer them a special coupon or discount as a way of saying thanks.
When studies consistently show that the recommendations of friends count highly in consumer purchase decisions, cultivating your relationship with your advocates, those who recommend you most, could pay off big for you.
Is there any way to see who shares your page? Or how many times it is share?
Pam,
The only place you can see who shared your page (as in specific individuals) is in by the view shares link for individual posts described in my post above.
For how often posts from your page are shared, liked, commented upon, etc., use Facebook Insights, available through a link to the right of your page when you are logged in with the account with which you administrate the page.
Hi Mark can you send me the link
Thanks, Mark. That’s what I thought. I was hoping to be able to see who and how many times my page was shared using the SHARE link at the bottom left of the page (not an individual post) I guess I can’t see this!
Pam, I believe that number is included in the Insights metric for shares, bu no, you can’t see who individually shared it. The “view shares” on posts is the first time Facebook has given us the ability anywhere to see what individuals are doing with our pages.
Mark, I shared a post on a page and can see that it has been shared a total of 18 Times – however, when I click ‘View All 18 Shares’ I can only see 11 of those 18 shares. I am friends with those 11 people. Can I not see who else has shared the same link if I’m not friends with them?
That doesn’t seem to make sense because on another post on the same page it says ‘View All 2 Shares’ and when clicked I can see 2 shares – but I am not friends with either of those two shares.
Lastly, if it says ‘View All 2 Shares’ and I can see two shares (even non-friends) is it possible that there are actually more shares that I can’t see?
Chuggs:
It looks like you may have encountered a Facebook bug. I couldn’t find any posts on pages I administer with more than 4 or 5 shares, so I couldn’t reproduce what happened to you. But in every case when I clicked on the shares there were people with whom I’m not Facebook friends. Try it in a different browser and let us know if the same thing happens.
Mark, I think the ‘bug’ is people who have shared the link or pic in a private message. I have been trying to figure out if those links posts and I don’t believe they do. The same holds for pics. I can’t find anything in the FB Help Center on this.
Buster, I believe you are probably correct.
I admin a page and i shared its post on my personal page but it doesnt show that the post was ever shared. Why cant i see that it has been shared? What am I missing?
Hi Kim,
I can’t say exactly, but my guess would be that Facebook probably excludes page admins from their own metrics, which is what any good metrics program should do (or should allow you to do). You want to see the stats of your followers, not your own engagement.
Hi Mark,
Do you know what happens if someone has set the share to “friends only” as far as page admins go?
Can a page admin still see a share from someone that has shared it to “friends only” who is not a friend of the admin?
Hi one of my profile is shared I wanted to. Know. Who shared it plz do. Help me
Is the view all who have shared function still available? I have posted something and asked people to share (on a business page) but I can’t see who has shared it or even if it has been shared.
Hey Bianca,
If a private person shares your post and they have their privacy settings ‘tightened up’, you won’t be able to see who actually shared the post.
You should be able to see who shared it via the “View All Shares” button that will appear if someone shares your post.
You can also view the total shares via Facebook Insights.

This ‘view all shares’ button does not seem to exist any more. Or am I missing something here ? I understand people tightening their privacy settings, but if I post a photo on a site that I manage, I should be able to see who is sharing my photo and with whom. (I am a photographer and have obvious copyright needs).
I should be able to see who is sharing posts of my children. This needs to be a feature available on FB if they are going to be allowed to share photos of MY underage children whether it be on my page or a photographer page.
